Redirection

Today I would like to talk about redirection. This week, I was thinking about how when I'm playing a sport, I'm worried about failing and having the rest of my team dislike me and not give me a second chance. Maybe some of you guys feel immense pressure to succeed, not only in sports but in other things. You shouldn't feel pressure to succeed. You should want to succeed. What matters, though, is your reasons for wanting to succeed. You should want to succeed because of Jesus. Because of what Jesus did, we love him and want to give him our all, which usually means going all out to succeed. By succeding, we not only express our love for Jesus and what he did, but we can help draw people to Christ, thus furthering his kingdom. But, back to my main point, we shouldn't feel pressured to succeed by God or anyone else. God just wants us to try our best, and if we screw up, it's okay; he forgives us. A good way to help you keep that in mind is to forget about everyone else, your teammates, your coach, the audience, even your parents. Don't forget about them so much that you don't notice them, but really the only one who matters and has an opinion that matters is God. If you mess up and your team has a bad opinion of you, as long as you're okay with God, it's alright. Not that their views don't matter, and you should try to be down with them, but if it doesn't work out, don't sweat it. In other words, you are really only playing for an audience of one; and that is Jesus Christ.
