The New Frontier

Hello New Frontier! As I mentioned in the post I posted moments ago, I have changed my blog title. I saw "The New Frontier" as a fitting title. As I make my way down the road of life, not a boulevard of broken dreams, I find myself encountering new things. New situations, new people, new "worlds". I'm on a New Frontier; walking on new ground. I'm "Going, I know not where, to find, I know not what" (Russian fairy tale). So, let's start life on the new frontier.

Venice

Venice was created by people fleeing from an enemy. That enemy was Attila the Hun. He was attacking a city, and some of the survivors fled into the bay. Attila was ruthless. He once sacked a city so badly that it's still in ruins. I think that I'm going to change my blog's name. The Beanstalk is cool and covered with tradition and memeories, but I think that it would be nice to see some change. So "au revoir" Beanstalk! Hello new thing!

Explanation

I suppose I should explain what I have written on my profile. See, the Germans had a fighter plane in WWII called the Me-109. That is, the messerschmidt(knife smith) 109. Now, the first time I heard the "There's no I in team, but there is an m-e" I immediately thought of the Messerschmidt. So sue me for thinking "outside the box". Anyways, I think that that should clear out any strange thoughts from the dusty resesses of your minds. Just joking, many of you use your heads on a regular basis, so they wouldn't be dusty. Do you realize that what we are taught in history class is a form of propoganda? It usually portrays our soldiers/citizens in a heroic light. I don't know if this is on purpose or if it stems from pride in our nation. I'm guessing the latter. This blog is becoming more and more a place for me to write my ramblings. I hope you don't mind. I just come home, full of ideas and attitudes.

Metric

No offense to metric users, but I have a personal vendetta against the metric system. There are just too freakin many units! Decimeters, centimeters, millimeters, meters, kilometers, tonnes, kilograms, kiloliters, liters, milliliters, grams, kilograms. It is really frustrating. Especially when you are trying to find the volume/mass of something. Anyways, I'm doing good. It's 21 degrees here. For all you none metric users, that's 70 degrees. Have a wonderful and splendeforous weekend.

New Movie

Hey guys, there's a great new movie coming out!

Over used phrases

I've done a lot of blogging today, but I got a lot of ideas today. Here is a list of overused phrases and/or words.

1.dude

2. yo

3.man

4.any cus word

5.cool

6.sweet

7. awesome

8. so

9.totally

10. crap

11.sucks

12. hate

I heard that the average American only uses 200 different words to communicate. That is nothing. Here are 100 words that are simple English :

a, I, as, the, go, do, ball, see, so, done, that, then, than, it, is, look, hi, hello, was, what, why, when, how, why, got, get, there, their, there's, no, yes, maybe, very, cool, bad, sat, say, hot, cold, like, be, we, his, her, my, mine, yet, for, far, place, tall, cave, okay, oh, tree, pot, poke, yeah, vroom, bang, bam, back, jack, unusual, un-cool, water, sun, heat, rock, grass, but, butt, hair, hairy, nose, ear, neck, arm, hand, finger, foot, feet, mile, inch, eye, snot, booger, wax, here, one, two, three, ten, spider, bug, flower, red, blue, white, sweet, cat, dog, hundred.

Almost all of those words can be written perfectly by the average second grader. And we are how many year's older than the average second grader? We should have huge, diverse vocabularies. Most of us do, but we don't use them. It's a gift. Take hold of it. Use it.

White Water Rafting

I wrote a poem about the whitewater rafting trip last year, so here it is:

The carriages pulled up
And out they piled
Teenaged boys
Rough and wild
Ready for anything
One that summer day mild

They walked to a building
And forms they signed
The forms were legal
And would legally bind
But they signed without
One look behind

Then they rode to the boats
And grabbed the oars
"Let us go," they cried
"Bar no doors"
"Skip the lessons!" came the shout
"They're terrible bores!"

They picked up the boats
And walked to the river
It was rough as a cougar
With not a sliver
Of still water
That woudl peace deliver

And they were off
With a whoop and a shout
They shot the rapids
Triumphant cries throughout
They pressed through danger
Without a doubt

They stopped for lunch
On the mossy banks
They walked about
With splashes not clanks
"Press on!" they cried
And pounded their flanks

There before them stood
A massive rock
Their swift passage
The stone did blcok
More than one knee
Did begin to knock

But they pressied forward
As they had always done
"Let's do it now!"
"It'll be fun!"
Then they pushed off
In the noonday sun

One, then two boats
Left the cove
One,then two boats
Dangerous swells they rode
Then went boat number three
It flipped, into the water it dove

It tossed out three
Before you could think
Landed them in
The dark cold drink
One climbed back in
And laughed with a wink

The two were rescued
Pulled to shore
Clothing drenched
Arms sore
But they shook it off
And went back for more

At the end of the day
When they were tired and wet
Their fast rides home
The travelers met
Them doing it again
Would be a safe bet

Virginia Tech

I was on yahoo a few minutes ago, and I read about the Virginia Tech shootings. That is terrible. All those people dead. As I get older, I get a better picture of what death really does to you and your family. I can only imagine what it's like for those families who are grieving right now. That's just awful. I just don't get it. Why do people do things like that? Arrrrrggggghhh. This world needs God soooo badly! Anyways, glad to hear that you are all right, EO.

Spring is like a mop,
causing the disappearance of slush
But when it starts to rain
Everything turns to mush

I love spring, cause winter is over, but spring is so wet. Only up here, the weather doesn't care about the season. It snowed today. Still, spring is a wonderful time, especially the last month. That's when it gets warm and you know that summer is just around the corner. Summer is one of my favorite seasons.

Packers

Well, I'm looking forward to another great season of football. More precisely, I'm looking forward to seeing the Packers. This being Brett Favre's last year, I'm expecting great things. They could definitely use a defensive player. Their offence isn't perfect, but it isn't that bad off, with Brett Favre, Donald Driver, and Bubba Franks. Their defense is lacking though. With the loss of Darren Sharper, last year I think, they will begin to struggle. Al Harris, Nick Barnett, and AJ Hawk will help, but Al and Nick are aging, while AJ is only in his second season. I would personally pick either a lineman that can pressure the QB and stop runs, or a safety that can persuade QBs to throw short, where the linebackers can pick them up, or run. On offence, they should draft a RB. They did alright two years ago, only because they had Najeh Davenport and Samkon Gado to fill in for Ahman Green, but the Packers still struggled. Now, they have none of the three. A RB is needed desperately. After that, I would draft either a lineman or a WR. The Packers' recieving squad is made up of aging men and stuggling youngsters (Only two WR had more than 2 seasons experience). If they get those holes patched up, the skill of the team and the hype of Brett's last season should be enough to carry them to another Super Bowl.

Odd

Has anyone ever noticed that the Germans always have the sweetest weaponry? They had sweet helmets. They had sweet planes. They had sweet guns. I just saw a German knight's helmet, and it looks like one of those Death Star gunner's helmets. I'm guessing you are smart enough to figure out which is which.

Easter

Well, another Easter has come and gone. This one made me think, where did we come up with the idea of an Easter bunny? I can see the egg thing, but this bunny makes almost no sense. But on a religous note, have you ever dreaded something? Like, you have to go get a shot, (I know that this is a pretty juvenile example, but bare with me), and that basically ruins the whole day because you don't want to go and get it. Then you look at the example of Jesus; he knew that he was on this Earth to die, and he knew when too. For me, knowing that that much pain was in my future, that would have ruined my life. Jesus has guts man! To live his whole life, 30 years, knowing that you had to die, and not crying out until the night before he died, that's incredible! Hopefully, none of us will go to hell, and because of that we won't experience all that Christ experienced. But, I know that I would gain quite a bit by getting a better picture of what Christ experienced, and comparing the idea of dreading something helps a little bit. Sorry if that didn't help you. Oh yeah, it snowed yesterday, and the day before, and the day before, and today too. Have a wonderful week.
